I Can't See Him
Oh, Father I can't see him
And I can't hear his voice.
If I could only touch his face
How my heart would rejoice!
My son has gone to war
In a terrible awful place
Full of danger everywhere,
And I miss his precious face.
If I could only touch his hand
And tell him it's alright,
Or whisper that I love him
As he goes off to fight.
"My child, I can see him
And I will gently touch him there,
I will whisper to his spirit
The things you want to share.
I will touch his hand for you,
And tell him it's alright.
I will tell him that I love him
As he goes off to fight.
Do not worry about your child,
Just entrust him to my care.
Your son and I talk together every day
For you taught him about prayer.
He asks the same things for you
That I would keep you safe.
He told me that he misses
His mother's sweet embrace.
He asked that I would touch your hand
And tell you that it's alright,
That he knows that I'm with him
As he goes off to fight.
I whisper to his spirit,
And I know he listens too,
That I am always with him
Just as I am always with you.
I told him not to worry
To entrust you to my care,
For you and I speak together daily
As you speak to me in prayer."
