I was thinking today of my parents and how much I miss them. For some reason I could almost hear my dad say my Mother's name. Most people called her
Mary Lyndle but Dad just called her Mary. I remember how much I loved to hear him say her name. I guess like my husband I today, he didn't always use her name but would say "honey" or "Hon". That made the sound of it even sweeter.
It reminded me of when our daughter was tiny and heard people calling me by name.
"Why do people call you Thena?" she asked.
"That is my name, just like yours is Melissa." I said.
Her eyes lit up in recognition.
"But I get to call you by your first name, Mommy!"
Yes, even today I think my first name is Mommy.
