Hoards

Things have a life of their own
Everywhere I look the amount seems to have grown
I can’t seem to get rid of them you see
Somehow they just cling to me.

They really aren’t important in my life
They just cause me a lot of strife
I’m running out of room to put things
It just causes me to be tied with strings

God gave me this stuff for a reason
I wish it had only been for a season
Seems its growing and growing
Wish I knew where He meant it should be going

I sell it
I give it away
I throw it away
But it wont go away

God help me to know what you want me to do
I feel like I’m living in a zoo
I’ve got books to the ceiling
I don’t know how I should be feeling

I’ve got clothes to the floor
And dishes to the door
I just can’t stand the mess any more
You can’t even see my décor

I never really wanted a lot of things
It’s really odd what life brings
All I ever wanted was your love
Now looks like I’ve got over and above.

I know the feeling. Hubby thinks that when I call Goodwill I get a delivery instead of a pickup!

It takes time to go through years of stuff and purge but we will get it done.

I have so much stuff yet to read....

I happen to know that his particular poem relates to real life, and I'm so sorry you're going through this. This sort of thing can get out of hand before we even realize it happened at all. It seems it's time to start packing it up for Goodwill or throwing some of it out. As you do that, just keep reminding yourself that the things of this world have no real value, and don't be afraid to ask someone you trust and love to help you out. I'll keep you in my prayers.

don't we get rid of stuff but we just gotta' slow down and look at every single yard/garage sale we pass by on saturday mornings? next thing you know it's oo-oo stop the car!!

I'm trying to purge some each week. We ended up with stuff from both our offices when we retired and our daughter's stuff when she moved east. We all love books and have so many and of course I love to scrapbook....

It is difficult when everything is so interesting and your house is so small...

I love to read, but if I live another hundred years I can't read them all.
