| More (Time with my son) By Scott Newport
I don’t know if I enjoy Seeing where I’m going Or being there Where I’m headed
The long view And the expectation Of time walking A truth I love
The silent talks Whispering tree tops Curling arms at the base of that Oak tree we always take A rest, close our eyes
The wind slight Sun sorta bright Falling through the branches Touching the leaves Like a hand on the back
“Snow’s ‘bout to come” Creek bottoms quiet today And light on brush “Let’s try over there”
More days like that May come- may not But the memory is more More of why I love spending Time with you |

| I love the sleepy, sorrowful feeling this one produces and I totally like how you used nature to do it. Beautiful!

| Hey Laura, this nature thing is in me I guess. Yesterday on the way to a job I passed a row of vintage, oak trees standing by the side of the road. Just a bit of gravel between us. Strong, leafless branches were all raised to the heavens as though to ask God why. They seemed to be reaching, as though pleading. They must have had a lot of questions because she seemed to have enough arms to fill a small chapel in the woods. She must have been close to 70, so she's been around a while. She even may have giggled as I went by with that look of curiosity on my face. I’m sure she has seen my kind before. “Hey guys, there goes another nut.”
Kinda crazy eh? I have always enjoyed nature and the spiritual aspect of it.
Scott

| Love your kind of "crazy." Many unbelievers thought John The Baptist to be a raving lunatic! |

| I guess we could say you write pastoral poetry with a contemporary twist. |

| Thought I better write a thing about the trees I spoke of in the earlier post.
In Season By Scott Newport
Leafless trees stand Forest of thinkers Arms reached out Always asking
Heaven answers Down on their Majesty, growing- Roots bolted firm
Shadows extend Upon dormant life At dusk Deep crevices glowing red At Dawn revive
Hanging dew reflections After a spring Frost, buds ‘bout to burst
Myself, just an Observer at sunrise- Still, on gravel Wondering river of thought
If I’ll ever Have the Strength of that Oak tree in season

| Wow, amazing work! You should post this as a new post too. Some people may not realize that you posted another great poem. I'd hate to see anyone miss out on this one! |
