What once was

A velvet moon emitted thought-provoking light

that shined through the minds of the creatures of the night

Joyous screams out of the fields of dreams

as moonbeams gleamed off the glitter-filled streams

that once led to the rivers made of honey and milk

Fly, butterfly, fly...upon your golden wings of silk

The roses are red, and the violets were, too

for it was far too glorious for any to be blue

High above a mountain top, an eagle proudly soared

ever so graceful as the rushing waters roared

towards rainbow-colored waterfalls that tumbled far below

splashing into morning dew that started long ago

when God raised His hand and first gave this world its birth...

but we've since taken a match to our papier mache Earth
