Romance Writing Empty
PostSubject: Romance Writing   Romance Writing EmptyThu Jul 26, 2012 8:35 am

I am currently in the very early stages of planning a trilogy of romance novels. These will be fantasy, not necessarily Christian. However, as a Christian, I write everything from that worldview, and I want to maintain my integrity in everything I write. Therefore, I am not comfortable including premarital sex.

Do you think readers will feel gypped if I don't include any sex scenes?

Is it okay as a Christian to write sex scenes if the characters are married?

If I don't include any sex scenes, how do I explain why my characters don't have sex?

Thank you so much for any input you might have.

I know what you mean. This is a tough subject for Christians, but I think there's a pretty easy answer. Naturally, we don't want to write hot, steamy sex scenes like the secular writer, but, on the other hand, leaving out something that is a natural part of life can cause complications.

I personally like the way Earlene Fowler handles sex between the married couple in her Benny Harper series. She's a Christian author, and her series is not necessarily Christian either, but her characters go to church and they do have sex. She is able to write about the later in a clean way and highlights the love and closeness between she and her husband. Her readers don't seem to feel gypped because she has a lot of fans. Consider reading one of her books to see how she does it, you won't regret it. I've read every book she's ever written.

Why you let society dictates to you,how and what you could write? This is your story, your characters and your point of view. If you want to have virgins in your story line, then its okay.

I believed writing about two people who are in love and having some conflicts about having sex because society assume that you will have sex before marriage will be a great read. Just image how your characters will evolved, the sexual tensions between both of them. How do they deal with this strong desires and with their Christians beliefs. Should they be true with their feelings or should they wait and become one,in marriage;to experience God great gift to mankind.

This is your stories, your value, your beliefs. You must be true to yourself, your characters, your fans and to your God!

Never be ashamed who you are and your beliefs. God gave you a gift, use it properly.

Today, society need guidelines on morals and virtues and you will be a great example to all if you follow your hearts and your Christians views.

Good Luck!!! and God Bless!!!
