Jumping Out of the Boat Faith
“Bid me to come to thee.” I prayed as Peter did.
For to my Lord and Savior I wanted to go,
Disregarding the crashing waves below.
With eyes on Him I made my way
The wonder of serving my Savior made my day
Until my eyes I took off of Him,
And I began to sink; I could not swim.
Lord, I want not only that jumping out of the boat faith,
That surge of joy that responds before the task at hand
Is seen for all the difficulty that it will hold
But also, Lord, I want that walking on the water faith
The faith that keeps my eyes on you and keeps me bold.
I want to walk all the way to You.
I know that if I start to sink and in the waves go down,
You will lift me up again and will not let me drown.
