| ROOM ABOVE
My big old house sits high upon a hill. I wanted to go up even higher still. A window unto Heaven is what I seek. So I built myself a widow's peak.
In days of old she would sit and quilt. In a parapet way up highly built. With windows facing to the sea. She waits for him, "To come home to me."
Nowadays I sit and wait, for Heaven to decide my fate. I sit up there for hours alone. No friends, no family, no telephone.
In solitide I sit and pray. That maybe there will come a day, when Heaven will see me sitting there. And at the Lord's table they'll place my chair.
Above my house I built a room. And I feel that it's safe to presume. Through my devotion and through my love, they'll make me room, up above. |

| Hello JimmyA, Welcome to Christian Creative Writers. I am glad you joined us.
You painted a very vivid picture for me of how my grandmother must have looked when she was praying her family into God's Kingdom, including me. You even managed to make the whole outline of the poem appealing to the eye. This poem touched my heart. Nice work! |
