| Still In the Game
Still in the game
The start-up is awkward.
Stumbling to shower
And java gulped down.
Sticky the heat
Before morning’s birthing;
Mindless in motion
The drive across town.
Still in the game
With walkers and dog pals,
Bikers with lanterns
And loading dock noise.
Backwards our clock
(The City still sleeping).
Silence, reflection
Our own secret joys.
Still in the game.
As blood starts to travel.
Ears hear the whispers
Of commerce begun.
Households with stories
Of next day’s adventure.
Bursting the tree-line
A hopeful new sun.
