He is Faithful


There is One

Who knows every

Part of me

All my stumbling

Through the years.

All the times

With rescue armed

From harm.

Wooed me in

The thick of night

Brought me strength

To stand and fight.

While I hunted

Tinsel charms.

Fled from His

Outreaching arms.

Doubted e’er

A Love so great

One that would not

Leave, forsake.

But in silence

Of a time

I have seen

His paths sublime.

Marveled that

This wayward boy

Still to Him

Is constant joy.

Let's say it together "God cuts His kids slack". Think of the parent lovingly watching young Johnny on the training bicycle. Pretty sketchy, but isn't he cute, and he is honestly trying. He'll get there. This is a beginning. The Tour de France comes later, or maybe not.

It is like Jesus with Peter on the beach in John 21, "OK Pete, do you love me NOW. That's all that matters."

could very well mean in later years, attempting to run The Tour de France while still on training wheels.
Let us not forget Jesus' admonishment to Peter prior to that.

Love does this. Not duty.

The admonition to Peter: "Get thee behind me Satan". Is that the one you're referring to? Peter was trying to cause his brother to stumble - to leave the Calvary Road and go easy on Himself. "Be it far from thee Lord." This Jesus would never do.
