So where's "the good news?"
Where is the Gospel in a darkened theatre?
It's in getting up again
and again
and again
till you just can't anymore
then lifted up anyway
it's in the example of the cross

It's in the graphic illustration to a chosen nation
the embarkations on mercy missions
to mysterious destinations
it's in the victory of a humble King's
all encompassing aura
The "Life" alive in fauna and flora
that spoke creation into existence

The war...
neither here nor a specific there but everywhere unseen
ensuing, wreaking havoc, multitudes falling, stumbling, families crumbling, crawling, furious, ferocious, frenzied bigotry and accusations, intolerance, hate mongering, envy, murderous intentions

All rolled up into a sweet self delusion that we as Christians remain untouched
above it all...
because of Who lives in us
missing assignments,
forgetting to wash one another's feet
breaking bread foregoing thanks and praise
random acts of kindness?
not on these mean streets!
if not engaged in the battle of your life in these times
then maybe it's time to question your paradise
if not faced with opposition for every good turn
then there still remains a great deal to learn

Are we smitten with the life we have been given?
Or dying to self everyday
in the service of a Saviour arisen?
when satan's only recourse is to hurl bodies at our hedges
then we are a real threat to his plan of attack
to see a predator's approach through gaps in tall grasses
takes the edges off of pride
and solely by Grace, given to faithful supplicator's
of the prayed upon's resistance

All eyes turn to the wildebeest with a pronounced limp
blinded by pain, hunger and thirst
never to see...
the watering hole again
we are refreshed daily
while indifference prevails outside of safe sanctuaries
in safe havens
taking sustenance from ravens
kidding ourselves' into believing it is all heaven sent
wasting time...
attempting to charm snakes
sick, twisted and perverted
that are already "taken"
and not giving a second thought
to being converted

Not our calling to give succor to the leaping
while ignoring the falling

Procrastination,
is just another word
for a convicted conscience's forestalling
yes we know what the outcome will be...
doesn't mean that we are at liberty
freed...to pray dumb
people please to appease
any one person
or persons

Joshua 10
"YOU HAVE NOT because you ASK NOT!"

It seems that Joshua’s daily routine was leading the Israeli army to battle and gain ground one city at time.  This chapter is much the same except we see something unusual happen.  While Joshua has a close walk with God, and is a man of prayer, we see him standing at the threshold of a battle and asking God for a favor.   If you go to Verses 12 & 13 of Chapter 10 you will see a very simple prayer, a simple request — to let the sun and moon stand still and God did so by delaying it’s setting ALMOST A FULL DAY!!  This gave Israel plenty of daylight “to get the job done”.    NOTHING IS TOO BIG FOR MY GOD!   NOTHING!

What battle are you wrestling with in life?  Why can’t you seem to gain the victory over it?  Why can’t you defeat your enemy?  Maybe it’s because YOU are fighting the battle and not allowing God to do it.  Maybe it’s because you are fighting it with “human wisdom” and not following God’s Word or His instructions.  Maybe you have not ASKED FOR HIS HELP (and sometimes we ASK but then after we pray we proceed to get up and keep trying to HELP GOD work it out!!).     WHY NOT STOP.  ASK GOD TO INTERVENE, ASK FOR A MIRACLE THAT ONLY HE CAN DO and then LISTEN and OBEY HIS VOICE and DO IT HIS WAY!!!!!!    One more time:  Obedience brings victory.  Child of God you can’t – YOU CAN NOT GET VICTORY BY WALKING IN THE FLESH DURING THE WEEK and “in the Spirit” on Sunday.  YOU gotta walk by faith and not by sight!  HE IS IN CONTROL – STOP telling HIM how to drive!!!                                                                      Pastor James
