Jesus will indeed come, Amen and Amen! Empty

“The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Pet. 3:9 NIV)

The promise that is mentioned here is Christ’s Second Coming. People around the world are curious to know many things in life, whether it is related to their career, relationships, talents, finance, or may be even those things that has the least or nothing to do with them. Curiosity makes man to find new answers, but, we know, not all times can we get the perfect answer.

The Return of our Saviour is also an issue that has raised doubts and questions in many minds across the globe. Even in the first century, many ignored this promise. But as time goes by, we who are living in the 21st century, have heard about many biblical prophecies being fulfilled in God’s own perfect time.

This is not the time to examine whether or not Jesus would come. Friend, there will arise situations when you will be forced to doubt the faithfulness of the Promise Keeper. But if we yield to such questions, Christ will come at an unexpected time and we will remain here. We need only to believe, though 2 millenniums have gone by, that Christ will surely come! What good is there is calculating God’s timetable in our finite minds and missing eternal life?

Peter adds why Jesus has not come till now: because He wants everyone to come to repentance. Repentance does not come from our own, but it is the Holy Spirit Who shows to us our sinful nature and also the love and finished work of Christ on the cross. It is He who generates in us, faith and trust in the eternal love of God. The Holy Spirit works in every sinner’s heart whom God knows that is humble enough to cry and plead for God’s forgiveness.

Friend, you may be a non-Christian or a nominal Christian. The things I have spoken to you through this article may be new and strange to you. But, let me tell you just one thing: GOD LOVES YOU. He loves you so much that all of your worst sins put together cannot stop Him from thinking about you! You are precious to Him! His love is so infinite that He sent His only begotten Son to this sinful world to shed His blood on a cross as an atonement for the sins of ALL human beings on earth, including YOU and ME. After rising up on the third day, we celebrate as Easter, He went up to heaven where He now pleads to His Father on our behalf.

But, there is one thing you need to do if you want to become God’s child and be mentioned in the Book of Life as well as in Christ’s intercessory prayer (Christ pleading to God for all those who have been washed by His blood). Say a prayer, in YOUR OWN SIMPLE WORDS, which includes your turning back from sins and faith in the blood of Christ which is able to cleanse you from all your trespasses. Ask Him (Jesus) to reign in your heart. Once you have committed your life to Him, He is the One Who leads and guides you.

More than 2000 years have passed since Christ has promised about His glorious return. Believers all around the globe live with their lamps burning, doing everything that pleases God and waiting eagerly for Christ to return.
