Anymore

I couldn’t see beneath the smile
Nor could I penetrate your gaze
You pushed and made your way through
Somehow beating down all my doors

Digging deeper until you found your way
Fitting yourself far below my skin
Replacing the truth with illusions
I was paper thin allowing you to shape me

I used to cling to those memories of us
And dream the future
I would build my life around you and me
But I’m not that girl anymore.

You poured my nightmares down my throat
You tore into my heart and killed the light
All while leaving me lost in the dark
Of loneliness and betrayal

Your smooth promises, your easy lies
Rolling off your tongue like blazing ice
A constant struggle between heaven and hell
Became my one and favorite vice

Long nights clutching my pillow while my tears
Caused my head to hurt and my throat sore.
I used to dream you would come back for me
But I’m not that girl anymore.

My steady source of addiction was
Fear of losing you mingled with escape
You craved for me to misplace myself
Leaving behind all sense of a real identity

While you twisted me and shed my layers
Moving me to the beat of your stride
I became comfortable in your shadow
I let you cut me, you let me bleed

I used to let you suffocate me
Breathing your poison into my core
I used to die daily
But I’m not that girl anymore.

The emotion in this piece is raw and 'real', it's amazing, I know many girls (even I in many ways) can relate to this piece, the last part most of all. ' I'm not that girl anymore.' it truly speaks volumes to the heart.
