Goodbyes are Difficult

Sometimes we meet a very special friend
Who knows us so very well
That no matter what we're feeling,
Our friend can always tell.

We develop the friendship
As weeks and years go past
And know that no matter where we are
That friendship is going to last.

When something happens
That means they have to leave
It hurts our hearts immensely
And causes us to grieve.

We know that things will get better
And that we can call each other each day,
Maybe even manage a trip to visit,
To help chase that sadness away.

When hearts are so bonded
Though it's difficult to part
We know that we'll always have
Their footprints on our heart.
