King For a Day Empty
PostSubject: King For a Day   King For a Day EmptyMon Aug 22, 2011 10:00 pm

Knight in shining armor and tin foil bound

Running through the back yard

wooden sword hits the ground

The  little boy stands tall

as the others gather round

He leans back

as the little girls start to stare ..

Sun shining down

as the tin foil begins to glare

He starts his speech

as he steps upon his chair...

These are the rules..

With the game that we are going to play...

Jesse is king and he is king all day..

Joey your the squire

and the rest of you are jesters

and part of the kings choir

One little girl asked can I be queen

I'll be the best one ...

The best one you ever seen

I'll help the king rule this land

With lots of grace

and a stern hand

Without hesitation the little boy started to say

These are the rules and they are the rules all day

and all of them are made up by me

and I say we we don't need a queen ya see

The little girl started to cry

and then to scream

Don't you know this isn't real

It's all make believe

Then the little boy got down from his chair

Walk toward the back door

and sat down on the stairs..

you can be what you want to be

you can even be the queen

if you want to be abbey..

With a big heart felt smile

she said with a grin

now that I'm queen

here where the real fun begins

Hey king here's my land half

and here's yours

mine stretches from the fence to this back door

and yours from the side of the house

to that extension cord

Then ..... Jesse...... time to eat

He looked at the knight

And then the queen..

He said I can't play any more

I have to leave

One by one the kids shuffled home

It left just the knight and Queen

to roam the back yard kingdom

all alone

then both sat down and started to play..

They didn't need a king or any one else that day.

They played for hours and hours..

Sometimes in the grass and sometimes  in the flowers

At the end of the night the little boy grabed a single rose and said

This is for my new love it's made from the finest shades of red

Take this as a promise from me

that one day you

and I will be married

she took it from his hand

smiled and then sat down

She made a cardboard cut out

for him to have a crown

I still remember that faithful day..

What seemed like harmless child's play.

but it Gave me 4 kids and Chevrolet

Guitar lessons a dog and ballet

A busy bathroom

and the mirror covered

 in hair spray

And it all started

when I got to be king

for just a day

I chuckled at the end of that. Very adorable and heart warming. It's funny how God works things out. I thought you might like to know, I found a typo. You missed putting the second 'b' in grabbed in this line.

At the end of the night the little boy grabed a single rose and said

God Bless you.

King For a Day Empty

This whole story had be grinning from ear to ear, I recall from my own childhood playing such silly games. Not that they've ended the same, but still. I loved this piece, so very heart felt and innocent, well done with it!
