In my rearview mirrors, I saw it peeking over the edge of the horizon.
The sun, as it began to wake the day.
I kept running as the light chased the darkness into submission,
Brightness threatening to burst over everything.
It snuck through the trees just over my shoulder
Playing hide and seek with the corners of my eyes.
I would sneak looks, to try and guage where it would catch me
How far could I go before I was tagged with it's brilliance.
I ran through the shadows as far as I could,
When suddenly I was enveloped in it's warm embrace.
Smiling I let it hug me, relishing the time that was just ours,
I shouted my praises to the wind to be carried to whatever ears may hear.
And on we ran, me having to stop from time to time
Catching my breath as it progressed, ever higher,
Warming all that it touched, equally deserving
All getting to share the wonderfullness of this creation.
We ran together for awhile, but I soon began to lag behind,
Not being able to keep pace with it's journey.
So it took the lead as the descent began towards the end of this moment in time
My journey itself winding down, it was the light to my path home.
