Rhythm of life
Confession Exodus 19 vs. 4-5
You yourselves have seem what I did to Egypt
And how I carried you on eagles wings and brought you to myself
Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant
Then out of all the nations you will be my treasured possession.
Confessional prayer:
God, we have seen what you did to sin,
and how you sent Jesus to bring us back to yourself.
You focus on your special relationship with us.
promising if we obey you fully we will be your treasured possession,
We confess our lack of interest at the power you can have in our lives,
and our ingratitude to you for sacrificing Jesus.
We neglect our relationship to you while focusing on making our possessions into treasures. Forgive us through Jesus. Amen
God’s assurance Exodus 19 vs. 6
Although the whole earth is mine;
you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation
These are the words you are to speak to Israel
God the creator can pick any creature to worship him but we are the chosen.
And to prove he wants only us he does not use the word if in his assurances.
Through Jesus, God says, “You will be a people that can come to me and worship me.”
Through Jesus, God says, “You will be my church, set apart to serve me.”
These are the assuring words to be spoken to all God’s people
Our living Exodus19 vs. 7, 8
The people all responded together, “We will do everything the Lord has said,”
So Moses brought their answer back to the Lord.
As believers we stand up together and respond enthusiastically,
“We will do everything the Lord has said, God helping us.”
This is the answer we bring to God; he does not want any ifs.
Doubt may enter but it is the checkpoint making us want to read God’s assurance again.
Then we once more can say with gratitude, “We will do everything the Lord has said.”
