We all use them, we all share them
Fragmented patterns, sometimes we pair them
Thought provoking, intencely hot
Comfortable introspect, maybe not
Giving something we hope will stand
For something inside us, in a troubled land
Horrific turmoil, no peace in sight
We give to each other, hope in our plight
Nothing more but handy distraction
A temporary reprieve, then back to the action
It's the life we live, can I get a break
What to do with it, it's mine to take
To mold and to shape, what will it be
My motivation, it's all up to me
But really it's not, and I'll tell you why
Cause it's bigger than me, oh help my eye
To see the enormity of the scale
Of the impact of words, Heaven or Hell
To help build up, or maybe tear down
Destroy a life, help turn one around
Help me Lord to guide my mind
So words I say will always be kind
And when I lay down at the end of a day
You receive glory, for I walked in Your Way
