A Funny Note for Carl about Arkansas

When I was in school (U of Missouri) a guy kept teasing me about my Ky accent.
One day he was determined to set me straight on how to pronounce Arkansas...

HIM: How do you pronounce Arkansas?

ME: Arkansas

HIM: NO, it should be AR Kansas.

How do you pronounce A r

Me: R

Him: How do you pronounce K A N S A S?

Me: Kan saw

He had the strangest look of shock on his face and strangely left me and my accent alone after that...

That is precious, and thank you for setting him straight. I take it he wasn't from the south.

i live near a town called huger but it's pronounced hugee???
go figure!

Try telling my Ky friends how to pronounce La Jolla and El Cajon here in Ca. LOL

My home town was Paducah (named after Chief Paduke) and someone stopped at my dad's little store wanting directions to Pa du chee...

paducah sounds like a sound effect of something you do, not somewhere you go...well on the other hand.

i have laryngitis, i can't begin to tell you how many people are relieved to hear that!

I had laryngitis once and the our pastor prayed that God would restore my voice...eventually...lol

i have been defenseless all day from quips, wisecracks, taunts, it's been traumatic.

the spoken or written word, it's all good, and I know where Paducah is, also. been there and through there a time or two.

My dad's from Tennessee, so he wrinched his worsh wraags and fell asleep on pillars. So now my kids say I sound like I'm from the south when I get frustrated with them and tell them the proper way to worsh the walls or wrinch out their worsh wraags.

I used to say flour instead of Flower so I had flour beds that bloomed. LOL

A friend gave me a cute dictionary on "How to Talk Southern" I told her that it was just a good resource book. LOL
