Recurring themes in dreams

Phantom limbs, nervous twitches
scratching at air and unseen itches
everything is still in place
though it doesn't feel that way
clasping hands together to pray
knees arrest to a submissive position
toes pressed against the ground
losing face...
disappearing without a trace
in this place, displaced yet unerased
like a cargo ship's hull
looming in scant clearance of bottom feeders existence

In due time underway
into open see
schools of flying fish
in presence of
saints and angels
break the surface unexpectedly
commotion in the calm
beyond the disturbance of forward motion
all stands still ahead clear as glass
while a-wake dissipates astern in the distance
reclaimed by the calm
into the horizon
all evidence is gone
of ever having passed this way
evaporating, arising, condensing...
only to fall again
absorbed by swells
of pride
as the setting sun
slowly sinks into the sea
