Heads in clouds

Created crosses made by hand
crooked and uncompleted
false ambitions, in smoke without fire
so easily defeated
usually where there is smoke
there is or was a fire
smoke without passion
is the illusion of a liar

Seeing what we want to see
thinking, that makes life easy
praying and fasting
while tolerating smoke
blown in our faces

If a good work in us has been started
why live as though it's departed?
He will see it through
till His purpose for us is completed
there is no manufacturer's recall
for what has been spiritually imparted

The crooked wooden cross
that was uncompleted
abandoned in our garage
burns in a pile along with other things you left behind
we let you in to our regret
kindness was mistaken for weakness

Withstood Satan's barrage by Grace
hidden like a corsage on a lapel
covering a fresh stain
purified in flames...
flushed out into the open
along with all those crooked schemes
and an aper's plagiarized themes
thought you'd see it for yourself
but you couldn't
though we were wishing, praying and hoping
in His time...
His way...
not ours'

While we slept and trusted
you let demons in
we put you out but not before being complicit in your sins
by omission
entry gained by our permission
trampled underfoot turned and rent us to pieces
confronted, the bonds are broken
confirmed by the filth that spewed from your tongue
the contempt in your heart and ingratitude,
your true nature exposed,
outloud was spoken
now we understand why you could never pray aloud
we thought you were shy or bashful
or a dreamer with his head in a cloud
we were wrong!

We are left with a broken window
amongst other broken things
that can be fixed or replaced
for now this test is past
your's...
has only just begun
hang on...
it's gonna be one hell of a ride!
it's a war being waged on the inside

When you realize with opened eyes...
every single word ever spoken to you was the truth!

For now, you still can't hear
but those words once spoken
and not my own
once heard, cannot return void
and will finish a good work in you
maybe not today or tomorrow
but in His time, in His way

As soon as this was written,
I stepped outside and saw what is pictured below,
perhaps you believe me now,
I know you're reading this...
a narcissist can't resist
well hidden...
but hoping, to draw that unwanted guest in you
out into the open
you don't even have a clue
to whom...
years of "stinking thinking"
has made you beholden
and what survival instinct
has deceived you into clinging to

"the big picture"
yes, you acknowledged hearing that
tells me that you were listening to some degree
albeit selectively
perhaps I didn't make it clear enough
before you ran off the deep end with the notion...
I meant the one the Lord reveals to us
not the one we create with our own minds

while setting out on our own private ocean

In order to set sail from his sheltered harbors
we must first make humble supplications
and seek the Blessings of the fleet
from the creator of our hearts and souls
and our deepest Seas


Prayers are needed...
