You have felt it
The sting
Yes the cup of my wrath
As you did your own thing
On a wilful child’s path.
And you wondered
In pain
Had I called you
In fact?
Had I meant
Your best gain
In this Abraham pact?
But I chasten
Each child
For his best
Latter end
And the child
Comes to see
These are wounds
Of a Friend.
And the cup
It will pass
For the dregs
Must be downed
By the cruel foes
Of Zion,
Of my Son
Raised and crowned.
Then it’s all rest
And joy
In my City
Of peace.
Oh, what songs
You’ll employ!
When my mercy’s
Released.
