Sin Defeated! Empty

The Ola Olutayo Mail.
Today 7th Aug, 2013.
Theme For The Year: "DARE YOU TO MOVE!"

Sin Defeated!

Amazing is the Word of God! The very last time I checked, it was amazing! Even now I say it, "Open my eyes that I may see amazing things in your law! Psalm 119:18"

To start with, I'd like you to give thanks to God for the gift of his Son, our Redeemer and Saviour! There is absolutely nothing we can do without him! Romans 6:23, John 15:5b.

Second, get your bible! Let's bring the Word to bear together, thereby confirming it. Acts 17:11

Psalm 38 is our reference. The whole of the chapter was a petition by David concerning his sins.
Reading through, you'd find a man who was completely overturned by pain, grief, and sorrow. He desperately yearned for help!

But a deep, closer look at this chapter will remind you of Isaiah 53, a prophecy concerning Jesus!
The difference is just about "who takes responsibility for the sin."
David, then, knew he was being held responsible for his sin (vs1-2), and till the last verse, he cried for restoration, calling for the Saviour!
But as for us NOW, since

"all have sinned and have fallen short of God's glory",
and the "wages of sin is death" Rom 3&6:23

we need a Saviour, too!
But we believers KNOW that Jesus is our Saviour, giving thanks to God for him!

But just like David in Psalm 38:5b and Psalm 51 (1-5), we sometimes fall into sin. We sometimes make mistakes.
Then we put on ourselves the whole weight of that sin, thinking God was punishing us!
We simply ASSUME responsibility!
And since sin has a penalty, it stays with us, settles in our body and in our soul!
The result is an example of what David experienced in Psalm 38!
How many of these penalties can we stand everytime we fall into sin?

You know what?
David, a man after God's heart, couldn't stand just ONE for himself, but Jesus stood, not just for Peter, or the 12 disciples, or for Israel, but for ALL, including you and me, ONCE!
Yes. Yes. Yes!

Scripture says Jesus TOOK...
he CARRIED...
was PIERCED...
and was CRUSHED..!
Your sins?
He knew.
He considered them.
Then He ASSUMED all that weight, for men in his time, men now and men to come, and for ONCE!
If God, to whom we have sinned (Psalm 51:4) calls for an assembly of sinners (everyone will be in attendance!), ready to judge accordingly, how would you answer for yourself?
Who can drink of God's cup of wrath?
Just to know that you are forever a reproach to God is enough condemnation!
But then the Son of God walks in, our Defender and Advocate, with all eyes on him, for Scripture says,

"they will look on me, the one they have pierced" Zechariah 12:10

for he is the ONLY one that can ANSWER for us!
Actually, such a day will still come (Revelation 20:12)! But NOT ALL will be able to "look on" him!
"They" will look
on him because "they" have pierced him.
(Pierced" here is the same as "sinned against")
Only those who acknowledge that they have sinned against him, putting their hope on him, will be able to look on him!
Such people won't even take a glance at him, but they will "look on" him!
Others may see him, but they won't be able to behold him!

You know, I don't get tired of speaking, shouting, listening to, and aiding the spread of this message!
Take note: That moment when the message of the Cross is tiring or just there to you, you are either trying to assume sins' penalty by yourself or you haven't even confessed it at all!

How then, oh you of little faith, forget that
you can't assume just one, not to talk of All?
So if I sin, what do I do to relieve myself on the impending weight that must be carried?
Scripture says

"if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness!"

Confession is the foremost pill to swallow, before you drink the water of Grace!
Remember, you are confessing your sin to the one who can answer for you, and has answered for you!
That's where I'm going!
You are forgetting that benefit!
You have forgotten WHAT HE HAS DONE by filling your mind with WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!
And what has he done?
"He has not treated you as your sins deserve! Psalm 103:9-10"

Oh! Glory to God!

"Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being praise his holy name...and forget not all his benefits - who forgives ALL your sins and heals ALL your diseases." Psalm 103:1-3.

Stop wallowing in the weight of that sin, paddling your canoe all by yourself as if you can get to destination
"self-righteousness!"
Matter of fact, there is no destination of such except "Jesus-righteousness!"

"No one is righteous except Jesus say so".

I Worship You!
Almighty God!
There is none like you!
I Worship You!
Oh! Prince of Peace!
That is what I want to do!
And I give you Praise!
For You Are My Righteousness!"

Forgive me Lord for I did try to carry the weight of my sin!
All day long I tried to think it through.
I forgot you have shattered & defeated my weight of sin.
But I acknowledge you Lord, as my Righteousness!
Amen!

If Paul could rejoice in the Lord while imprisoned and facing death, why is it so hard for us at times?
In the most dire of circumstances..."good news."
And so it was, and so it still is and ever shall be!

"We are meant to give even if we get nothing from it"

Jesus said, "Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is my way, the only way..." MSG.

and

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son..."

God Bless!
