I met this woman named Pandora, stunning and cunning like a fox
She had all six of my children locked away inside a box
I read a sign upon the box as my children screamed "Daddy, help us"
The language of the dead: "Relinque spes, omnibus introeuntibus..."
"Abandon hope, all ye who enter here..."
and my soul felt every fear...of every child's tear
The feeling I was feeling in my heart tore me apart
Pandora started wheeling and dealing right from the very start
She offered their release if I would be willing to make a trade
My soul for theirs...that was the deal Pandora made
and even though there was a time when I didn't have the time
and I was dying in the world living a dead-man's rhyme
yesterday has gone away, today is where I stand
and so I made a stand and I reached out and shook her hand
No sooner did I do this that I truly realized
Pandora was the devil...cleverly disguised
The devil reveled in laughter after the deal was done
but then he let all of my children go...one by one
Each one waved goodbye and they were crying as I fell
but I knew none of them could handle all the tortures of hell
I am built for...I've become numb to...the chains and pains of being bound
and no greater sound can be found than that of children running 'round
In exchange for my six, that the Lord shall save their names
I feel the never-ending pain as I am lowered to the flames
Just then I saw the devil tremble as I heard the voice of heaven
"I am a jealous God...and I am keeping all seven"
"My love is unconditional, it is forgiving, it is whole"
"Never make deals with the devil, child...you almost...lost...your soul..."
