Father God,
If you were in plain sight, I could use my eyes to see You.
I would be able to run to You - stretch out my arms and hug You tightly
My hands, I would feel in Your palms as we walk together daily.

I believe that you would smell like Heaven, being that it is Yours
I believe, that with my ears, I would clearly hear the distinction of Your voice
Calm, never hasty…Loving, never impatient…Sincere, never unkind

Your smile would be brighter than the sun! sunny

Because like Heaven, it is Yours and everything is created in Your likeness
Your laugh would tickle my soul with such a joyous happiness that I’ve never known and it would never flee from me
Because You are constantly, forever and always the same…I find You faithful.

I can envision us talking by a calm body of water, sitting…just You and me, admiring Your work
Me hanging on to your every word as You instruct, encourage and discipline me for the days to come
I would be able to lay my head on Your lap while You give me rest and time to think

I believe that we would pray together Oh Lord.
How beautiful that would be! Hand in hand, touching and agreeing as You’ve taught us all this time!
I can see You Lord, moving harm out of my way – defending my honor, showing Your favor!
I can see You my God, opening doors for me that no man could ever close…because You are God and God alone!

But here I am…an imperfect Human…

My physical eyes can’t see the mental picture my words have painted.
I don’t know what You look like – all I know is that we’re all created in Your image and that’s all I need.

I can’t physically hug you, but when your spirit warms me, I feel your embrace
When tears of joy fall, I feel your love surrounding me
When someone I love gives me clear direction and instruction in accordance to Your will,
I see and feel the love, compassion and wisdom that you’ve gifted to those who love You.

No, I can’t physically see your smile, but I believe that every time the sun shines, you are there, smiling.
Though I can’t see your hand in mine, I know that you are walking with me still.
Be it by water, underneath a quiet tree, alone in my own space or in a room full of people,
I feel your presence – so I know, that thou art with me

Your Word is my Bible - my instruction…my faith’s foundation and encouragement.
My family and friends are your priceless gifts to me.
Your blessings are forevermore and your grace is great beyond measure.

So in my heart Lord – I feel you and I hear you – I know you live in me
With my eyes, I see the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in your people that dwell in your places

Thank you Lord, for your position over this world
Without you, I could never be.
My eyes don’t need the vision for what my spirit can already see

I love you and I know that I am loved the same
Your precious son Jesus and the Holy Spirit are more than I could ever ask for, more than I could ever imagine.
Thank you for providing me with continual blessings forevermore.

What a beautiful pastoral free verse. Loved it. I could picture the scenes you painted and imagined being there. Great work, thank you.
