Altar of Skull Empty

Altar of Skull

In a river of crimson, reflecting the Nile many millennia before, the blood cascaded down His naked body, each tiny drop splattering on the ground this land- the Hill of the Skulls, was the altar on which holy, omnipotent blood was being shed.

Amidst great pain, He forced His eyes open, and His heart broke. Drowning in the wave of deicidal humanity was His mother’s family, tears escaping their eyes unrelentlessly. The taste of blood evident, He authoritatively stated,

“Mother, behold your son.” Nodding toward John, His beloved brother, He continued, “Behold your mother, my friend.”

An unquenchable thirst struck Him as He realised the completion of His mission. A tear rolled down His cheek. He knew that society would never understand His sacrifice. He breathed His final breath, and the sky’s azure portrait faded into a seemingly ominous countenance. The veil had been torn. Divinity had become humanity and was a perfect sacrifice for my imperfection.

NOTE
: To be deicidal relates to the principle of deicide, or God-killing.

In a very short piece you managed to give a very powerful visual!
I can't watch certain scenes from The passion of the Christ without totally breaking down, I was driving home today reflecting on that. It just popped into my head out of nowhere, then I got home from work and read this post.

Great job!!

God Bless.
