Bones

In the Valley of the Bones, there dwelt an empty soul,
Broken and bound by belittlement he lay.
In abuse and abandonedment, aroused by arid temperament,
Cold and claustrophobic, in the pits of fear he waits.

He has tried and cried for rescue, but no one would reach down,
To grasp his hand, to save him. To pull him to firm ground.
The tears that he’s cried form mud as he desperately screams,
Heartache mirrors skin broke wounds as profusely both, they bleed.

And in blood and mud and salty tears, the soul begins to drown.
Sinking quickly into fear. In that fear he loudly shouts.
“Save me someone, save me!” He screams until he can no more,
“If you’re up there Lord God save me!” He whispers until it’s sore.

As he loses breath, suffocated by grief and a broken heart,
The fractured soul whose life was about to fall apart,
Feel a hand grasp his and in less than a second,
He could smell the pure air. But ‘You’re not God’ he reckoned.

The saviour left in perplexity, confused by the response,
Then the soul proclaimed loudly, “Where were you, Lord God?”
God said gently, in a calm, still reply,
“In the heart of that very man that you sent rudely passing by…”

That one made me want to cry. Powerful piece. One of my favorites of yours.

Guilty as charged, very convicting piece, food for thought surely. been on both sides of this, great observation.
