In The Garden

As I stood in my garden one night
A group of men came near
I couldn’t hear what they were saying
But their faces were filled with fear

The men sat down except for One
He began to walk toward me
He stopped as He reached me
And fell upon His knees

He put trembling hands upon me
His breathing began to race
His body weak and weary
Such grief upon His face

I wanted so to comfort Him
But I am just a tree
Growing in a garden
In a place called Gethsemane

He turned His face toward Heaven
Then He said “Father please,
If You are willing take this cup
Of suffering from me.”

And as He prayed drops of blood
Like sweat came from His pores
The blood it fell like rain
Down to the garden floor

Then I saw peace come over Him
He said, “I am Your Son
Yet it is Your will, not my own,
I ask to be done.”

A crowd they came and took Him
To where I do not know
But His Spirit, It surrounds me
When I feel the warm wind blow

Very beautiful, love the perspective...all of creation cries out.....including the trees. Well done, all glory to the Father.

Thanks Crystal, Lora, and Miss Thena! When I read all of the amazing poetry here, I get so intimidated. I'm just a country girl from South Carolina. My poems seem very simple by comparison. And, when I think about people with degrees in writing and literature are going to read it, I really get intimidated.(and a little queasy :burp:) Thanks for all of the encouraging words. I'm so blessed to be in such wonderful company! (and I'm not just saying that cause y'all liked my poem )

i have many degrees but don't let that intimidate you. let's see before i was saved: 1st degree idiocy, 2nd degree stupidity, 3rd degree fearfulness...the list goes on and on. no worries.

My little verses are always sooo simple but God can use simple words to state the profound when He is in it. We may reach different people with the style of writing they will read.

I actually do have a degree in English, with an emphasis in creative writing, and you get my stamp of approval with a cherry on top.

That explains a lot! Now I can understand how you can write such beautiful poetry about children and write other poetry from a child's point of view. Way cool!

Thanks worshipfreely! All credit goes to God. When I started writing this, I was just going to write down an idea I had, which I thought was for a story. This was the result and in no way relates to the idea I thought I was writing down. I hope God will continue to bless me in this way. It is so humbling to watch God work! And He is definitely at work on this site!!!
